Turkish Ministry of National Defense denies border troop reductions

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MSB) has denied allegations regarding the reduction of military units or personnel at border outposts and base areas. During a weekly press briefing, Ministry Spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk stated that the Turkish Armed Forces continue to protect borders 24/7 under all weather and terrain conditions, emphasizing that no reductions in personnel are occurring.

Regarding international defense cooperation, the Ministry addressed the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed on August 7, 2026, between Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. The MSB clarified that the agreement does not define any country as an enemy, but rather aims to establish a more institutional and sustainable defense and security structure among the three nations.

In terms of counter-terrorism efforts, Aktürk noted that three PKK members recently surrendered. He emphasized that the military continues its struggle against threats to national security both within and beyond Turkey's borders.
