Turkish Ministry of National Defense rejects European Parliament Cyprus decision

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MSB) has issued a strong response to the European Parliament regarding its recent decisions on Cyprus. The Ministry criticized the European Parliament’s Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality for recommending funding for a memorial project by the Greek Cypriot Administration that targets the Turkish Armed Forces.

In a statement, the MSB rejected claims against the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation and the Turkish Armed Forces, calling them “baseless.” The Ministry accused EU institutions of ignoring the systematic attacks against Turkish Cypriots and the actions of the EOKA terrorist organization between 1963 and 1974. It urged third parties to maintain an impartial and fair stance based on historical facts.

Additionally, the Ministry addressed the situation in Syria, stating it is monitoring the dissolution and integration process of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDG). The MSB emphasized that for the sake of Syria’s territorial integrity and the “single state, single army” principle, weapons and military vehicles should be handed over to the Syrian Army.
