Turkish Ministry of National Defense updates on security and regional politics

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MSB) held a press briefing in Afyonkarahisar to commemorate the 104th anniversary of the Great Offensive and provide updates on military operations and upcoming Victory Day celebrations.

Regarding regional security, the Ministry criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, stating that its aggressive and expansionist policies are the primary obstacles to permanent peace and stability in the Middle East. The Ministry emphasized that regional security must be based on international law and respect for sovereignty.

In terms of counter-terrorism and border security, the MSB reported that five PKK terrorists surrendered within the last week. Additionally, technological measures at the borders resulted in 550 individuals being apprehended and 807 prevented from crossing in the past week, bringing the year-to-date total of apprehended individuals to 9,080.

For the August 30 Victory Day celebrations, the Ministry announced a parade in Ankara, naval displays in the Bosphorus, and aerial demonstrations by Türk Yıldızları and SOLOTÜRK. Furthermore, Turkey announced it will host the Southeast Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) headquarters for a second time from 2026 to 2032.
