Turkish Ministry of National Education launches Gaza awareness campaign

The Turkish Ministry of National Education (MEB) has announced a nationwide awareness campaign titled ‘Let the Kites Not Be Shot, Let the Sky Remain for Children’ to mark the start of the 2026-2027 academic year. Directed by Minister Yusuf Tekin to all 81 provincial governorships, the initiative aims to draw attention to the plight of children affected by war and conflict globally, with a specific focus on Gaza.

The program will take place between September 14 and 18, 2026, and is organized around four central themes: ‘Children Should Play!’, ‘Children Should Grow Up in Safety!’, ‘Education is Every Child's Right!’, and ‘No Child Should Be Left Behind!’. Students will participate through kite designing, painting, and exhibitions to convey messages of peace, solidarity, and hope.

Coordinated by local governorships, the events will be held in designated safe open areas within provincial centers. The Ministry also encourages parental participation to support student development and the best interests of the child.
