Turkish MPs denounce corruption and politicized investigations in parliament
Yeni Party MP Süleyman Bülbül used a parliamentary session to criticize the government’s handling of corruption, bans and poverty, labeling them as the “3Y” issues. He warned that opposition parties would not hand over the remaining ballot box and highlighted grievances such as veteran access to defense commission meetings, pensioners’ low wages, and the lack of constitutional safeguards.
Good Party MP Yavuz Aydın called for the rule of law to remain free of political weaponisation, condemning investigations into municipal officials that he said were applied unevenly. He cited probes of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık, urging that any misuse of public resources, bribery or procurement fraud be investigated impartially, and warned against double standards that erode public trust in the judiciary.
