Turkish authorities promote KADES app to combat violence against women
Female gendarmerie non-commissioned officers in Turkey are conducting outreach programs in rural villages to raise awareness about the KADES (Women Support Application). In regions such as Muş, officers visited women working in fields and homes to demonstrate how the mobile application works.
The KADES app allows women to request emergency assistance with a single touch. Once activated via SMS verification, the app transmits the user's location to emergency call systems, enabling the nearest law enforcement teams to respond quickly. Officials emphasized that the tool is designed to protect user privacy, allowing for silent calls that do not alert an aggressor.
In Sivas, local leaders have also called for expanding awareness training beyond public institutions into neighborhoods and rural areas to ensure women are fully informed of their legal rights and available social support mechanisms.
