Turkish municipal projects reach European award finals

Two Turkish municipal projects have reached the finals of prestigious European award programs.

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality’s Circular Construction and Demolition Waste Management and Recovery Model Project has been named a finalist for the 2026 Local Sustainability Award, organized by ICLEI Europe and the European Committee of the Regions. The project focuses on sorting construction and demolition waste to prevent environmental damage and reintegrating it into the economy as recycled aggregate, fill, and infrastructure materials for road construction.

Additionally, the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality’s Barrier-Free Employment Project has reached the finals of the 2026 European Social Service Awards. Competing in the ‘Public Sector Collaboration in Social Services Award’ category, the initiative aims to increase the participation of individuals with disabilities in the workforce by fostering cooperation between the public sector, private businesses, and disabled individuals to match skills with appropriate job opportunities.
