Konya tramway extension nears test runs as energy line installation completes

Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay announced that the Adliye‑Şehir Hastanesi–Stadium tramway extension in Konya has completed infrastructure and track‑laying work. The project is now in its final stage before test runs, with the installation of electrical cables and wires for tram power ongoing around the clock. Altay said, “We have reached the final stage before test runs. The energy lines are being mounted day and night, and the new station near the schools is also almost finished.” He added that once the energy lines are in place, test runs will begin to ensure passenger safety and service reliability. The work is being carried out by Konya Büyükşehir Belediyesi in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and aims to provide safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly public transport for residents.

The municipality expects test runs to start shortly after the energy‑line work is completed, after which regular tram services will commence on the extended line.
