Turkish municipalities boost fire safety at home and abroad

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has distributed 546 fire‑fighting tankers to rural neighbourhoods, providing training to more than 2,500 residents and officials on first‑response techniques. The programme aims to minimise loss of life and property in remote areas and plans to deliver an additional 128 tankers by 2026.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality, in cooperation with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), organised a week‑long advanced fire‑service training for personnel of the Djibouti Fire Brigade. The curriculum covered fire suppression, incident command, firefighter safety, confined‑space firefighting, technical rescue and traffic‑accident response, with practical drills on fire‑attack and vehicle‑stabilisation. The training sought to strengthen Djibouti’s emergency‑response capacity and explore further bilateral cooperation on disaster management.
