Turkish municipalities boost women's vocational training programmes

In Düzce, the municipal‑run Kitchen Workshop project, coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology under the SOGEP programme, held a tasting event where trainees presented çökertme kebab and cheesecake and received perfect scores. The initiative, supported by Düzce Mayor Dr. Faruk Özlü, aims to increase women's employment in the food‑service sector.

In Ankara’s Çubuk district, the municipal partnership with the Halk Education Centre concluded a nine‑month Women Handicraft Workshop. About 30 participants received certificates in a ceremony attended by Mayor Baki Demirbaş, who highlighted the programme’s role in enhancing women’s social and economic participation. Training was conducted at the Mazhar Balcı Konağı under the coordination of Neslihan Yiğiner.
