Turkish municipalities expand barrier-free life centers

Municipalities in Turkey are operating specialized centers to support the social integration and vocational training of individuals with special needs.

In Şehzadeler, the Tilkisüleymaniye Barrier-Free Life Center and Protected Workplace provides education and production opportunities for 30 residents. The center offers workshops in handicrafts, music, painting, physical education, and social adaptation. Participants engage in creating decorative products using materials like stone powder and natural soy wax to improve motor skills and social communication.

Similarly, in Darıca, the Barrier-Free Life Center has commenced a new educational term. The center focuses on basic education and handicraft courses to foster personal development and social participation. Local officials emphasize that these facilities aim to promote equal opportunity and ensure individuals with special needs can play an active role in community life.
