Turkey holds various ceremonies to honor veterans and martyr families
Various municipalities and organizations across Turkey held ceremonies and gatherings to observe Veterans Day and honor martyrs and their families.
In Malatya, the Police Department and EMŞAV organized a meal for approximately 750 attendees, including veterans, martyr families, and local officials. In Nilüfer, the municipality hosted a solidarity dinner for 400 veterans and families, where Mayor Şadi Özdemir announced the completion of a martyr monument and plans for a new comprehensive monument at the Yaylacık Liberation Museum.
Other regional commemorations included wreath-laying ceremonies in İvrindi, Niksar, and Sarıkaya. In Karşıyaka, a parade and musical performance were held in collaboration with the Combatant Veterans Association. In Kırıkkale, the Police Wives Association visited the Martyrs and Veterans Association to show support.
Additionally, ceremonies were held in Sivas to mark the second anniversary of the death of police officer Şeyda Yılmaz, who was killed in the line of duty in Istanbul. Local leaders noted that her memory has served as a role model for young girls interested in joining the police force.
