Turkey celebrates Muhtars Day with local leadership meetings

Various municipalities across Turkey held events to commemorate Muhtars Day on October 19, emphasizing the role of neighborhood heads as vital links between the state and citizens.

In Çukurova, CHP District Chairman Hasan Aslan met with local muhtars, stressing that public service should transcend political affiliations. Similarly, in Bafra, Mayor Hamit Kılıç highlighted the historical significance of the muhtar institution, noting its long-standing tradition in Turkish governance.

In Tekman, Muhtars Association President Mehmet Sarıer and District Governor Hüseyin Demirkol discussed the importance of muhtars in driving regional economic and social development. In Yunusemre, Mayor Semih Balaban hosted a gathering to discuss neighborhood needs and reinforce cooperation between local government and community representatives.
