Turkish municipalities hold muhtar meetings to strengthen local social services

The Aksaray Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services organized a consultative meeting with neighborhood muhtars to discuss ways to improve access to social services and accelerate the identification of citizens in need. Officials presented social assistance models, protective and preventive services, and highlighted the role of muhtars in early detection of social risks and referral to appropriate institutions.

In Kütahya, the municipality convened a Muhtar Meeting chaired by Deputy Mayor Himmet Sarıyar to review infrastructure, transportation, and social‑area projects and to streamline the rapid detection of neighbourhood problems. Municipal representatives updated muhtars on ongoing works, gathered proposals for resolving local issues, and reiterated the aim of a citizen‑focused, coordinated approach to service delivery.

Both gatherings underscore a coordinated effort by local Turkish authorities and muhtars to enhance the efficiency and reach of social and municipal services for residents.
