Turkish municipalities host programs for young writers
Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the BİLSEK Association, has completed its ‘Young Writers Support Program’. Aimed at preserving the literary heritage of Kahramanmaraş—Turkey’s first and only UNESCO City of Literature—the initiative provided aspiring authors with training, mentorship, and free writing workshops led by expert educators.
The program seeks to prepare participants' works for publication, ensuring their literary contributions reach a wider audience. Following the completion of the training, participants were awarded certificates to mark their progress in developing original literary works.
In a separate cultural event, the 5th International Young Writers Meeting took place in Konya, organized by the Konya Metropolitan Municipality and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). The event brought together young writers from various geographical regions to foster cultural and literary ties.
During the meeting, participants visited Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay. Mayor Altay emphasized the importance of international visitors recognizing cities with deep cultural and Islamic histories, noting the strength of the bonds between Turkey and various regions through literature.
