Turkey's municipalities roll out summer open‑air cinema events
Municipalities across Turkey are hosting free open‑air cinema programmes this summer. In Çiğli, the Mahalle Sinema Günleri opened with the classic film *Vizontele* on Egekent Mahallesi’s festival field, offering popcorn, snacks and pizza to families. Gebze’s “Mahallemde Sinema Var” event showed the animated *Rafadan Tayfa Kapadokya* in Beylikbağı Mahallesi, provided popcorn and was attended by Mayor Zinnur Büyükgöz. Ankara’s Kültür Yaz Sahnesi paired free concerts with screenings of *Nadide Hayat* and *Hayali Arkadaş IF*. Bayraklı hosted a series including *Hedefim Sensin*, *Neşeli Günler* and a children’s festival with *Buz Devri*, serving popcorn and refreshments. Karabük’s Youth and Sports Department held a “Masal Akşamı” with traditional stories at Yenişehir Yazlık Sinema, attended by Mayor Özkan Çetinkaya. Gaziosmanpaşa organised “Geçmişin Masalları, Geleceğin Anıları”, where grandparents read stories to preschoolers as part of its “Aile Yılı” programme.
