Turkish municipalities ramp up inspections of public spaces and illegal dumping

Municipal authorities in several Turkish cities carried out coordinated inspections aimed at preserving public order and health. In İzmir, the Metropolitan Municipality’s Zabıta (municipal police) and local police jointly inspected Karantina Park, halting illegal street‑vending and seizing equipment, with legal action taken against offenders. The city also deployed drones to monitor and stop illegal construction‑site waste dumping, allowing rapid identification of violations in hard‑to‑reach areas.

In Istanbul’s Maltepe district, Zabıta teams inspected the Fındıklı neighbourhood, removing objects that blocked sidewalks and checking food establishments for hygiene, product safety, and compliance with regulations. Similar cleaning and market‑area checks were conducted by Battalgazi municipality in Malatya Province, where crews cleared streets in Karahan neighbourhood and inspected local markets for pricing and safety standards.

Sarıkamış municipality conducted bakery inspections, verifying that bread weight and hygiene standards met legal requirements, and issuing warnings or penalties where needed. Across these actions, officials emphasized continued coordination with relevant agencies to protect citizens, maintain clean public spaces, and enforce environmental and consumer‑protection laws.
