Turkish municipalities launch free transit programs for mothers

Turkish municipalities in Kayseri and Muğla have implemented transportation support programs specifically designed for mothers to alleviate financial burdens.

In Kayseri, the Metropolitan Municipality launched the ‘Anne Ulaşım Kartı’ (Mother Transportation Card) as part of the ‘Year of the Family’. The program provides mothers who gave birth in 2025 with 40 free rides for intra-city travel and 20 free rides for travel between districts and the city center. To date, 1,415 mothers have applied for the program, with total costs exceeding 3 million TL.

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality has also expanded its ‘Anne Kart’ initiative. Under a recent municipal council decision, mothers with children aged 0-4 who hold a Muğla Kart will receive 60 free rides per month. The program aims to support low-income families and increase women's participation in social life by providing regular, predictable transportation access.
