Turkish municipalities launch initiatives to support women entrepreneurs

Municipalities in Turkey are launching initiatives to support women's economic participation and entrepreneurship through education and retail opportunities.

In Kahramanmaraş, the Metropolitan Municipality, in collaboration with Kahramanmaraş İstiklal Science and Technology University and the Women and Democracy Foundation (KADEM), has established the Kahraman Women's Academy. The academy provides diverse training in areas such as e-commerce, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, women's rights, and digital security. To facilitate economic growth, the academy also offers an online sales platform for women to market their products.

In Kandıra, the local municipality has launched a Women's Handcrafted Goods Store to help women convert their manual labor into economic value. The project focuses on selling non-food items, including jewelry, ceramics, knitting, and traditional textiles. The initiative aims to preserve local cultural values while providing a platform for women to reach a wider customer base and contribute to their household economies.
