Turkish municipalities launch new stray animal welfare facilities

Municipalities in Turkey are advancing projects to improve living conditions for stray animals. In Ordu, the Altınordu Municipality has officially opened the Patiköy Natural Life Area in the Yeşilköy neighborhood. Spanning 2,500 square meters, the facility is designed to host up to 200 animals in a natural environment rather than enclosed concrete spaces. The site includes four different paddocks for various dog breeds, shelters, play areas, and administrative units including security and storage.

In Kocaeli, the İzmit Municipality is nearing completion of its Dost Pati Life Area. Located on 75 acres of land leased from the General Directorate of Forestry, the center focuses on rehabilitation, treatment, and care. The facility features three free-roaming areas, a 1,300 square meter reserve area, and modern structures including examination rooms, operating theaters, and specialized sections for nursing mothers. The center will also include quarantine zones, administrative offices, and comprehensive security systems.
