Turkish municipalities launch social facilities to support women's employment

Municipalities in Turkey have launched new social facilities aimed at supporting women's employment and local production.

In Honaz, the Kar-Ova Social Facilities have opened to connect female producers directly with consumers. Honaz Mayor Yüksel Kepenek stated the goal is to allow women to sell their agricultural products at higher prices than traditional markets while providing consumers with more affordable options. Kepenek also noted that the municipality has completed 153 projects using its own resources without incurring debt.

In Diyarbakır, the Hamravat Social Facilities have been inaugurated to increase female employment and provide affordable social spaces. Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Serra Bucak Küçük announced that the facility, including its kitchen and service areas, will be operated entirely by women. The facility will also serve agricultural products grown through the municipality's rural development initiatives. DEM Party MP Adalet Kaya emphasized the importance of such employment opportunities in strengthening women's economic independence amidst economic challenges.
