Turkish municipalities launch diverse summer programs for children

Various municipalities and organizations across Turkey are implementing diverse summer programs aimed at the physical, social, and cultural development of children.

In Istanbul, the Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) has completed its sixth annual Nature Camp, hosting over 8,000 children in activities ranging from archery and climbing to orienteering, designed to reduce digital screen time. Additionally, İBB has launched a horseback riding project in collaboration with the Turkey Jockey Club at the Veliefendi Hippodrome.

In Kocaeli, the Metropolitan Municipality has introduced the ‘Bi’ Mola’ project through Antikkapı, offering various picnic boxes to facilitate outdoor leisure at Sekapark. The city also utilizes the ‘Çek-İlet’ mobile application to allow citizens to report municipal issues via photo and location. Ormanya Natural Life Park has also updated its children's play areas to enhance family visits.

Other regional initiatives include art workshops in Kahramanmaraş, where children showcased oil paintings after a 10-week course, and scouting camps in Yozgat focused on discipline and nature-based learning without technology. In Denizli, children participated in educational trips to science and archaeology centers, while in Konya, youth engaged in nature walks to promote environmental awareness.
