Turkey's municipalities launch free summer programs for children
Municipalities across Turkey are running a series of free summer activities for children and youth. Elazığ Municipality offers music and instrument courses, while Pamukkale Municipality provides sports classes ranging from football and gymnastics to robotics, pilates and zumba. Yerköy organized Children and Neighborhood Festivals in August, featuring workshops, games and mini‑concerts.
In the eastern province, Sarıkamış Municipality handed out sports uniforms to about 1,000 children aged 8‑15. Bulanık District’s youth sports schools, operating for roughly two months with football, basketball, volleyball, athletics and gymnastics, received a visit from Kaymakam Ömer Övünç Koşansu, who took part in games and gave out T‑shirts and ice‑cream. Merkezefendi Municipality’s summer sports schools include gymnastics training for dozens of youths across 20 facilities, and Efeler Municipality runs weekly judo sessions for children, emphasizing discipline and confidence. An event in Konya attracted 55,000 students to a summer camp.
