Turkish Municipalities Open New Community Centers and Women Training Programs
The Bodrum municipality has begun construction of the Çırkan Community Center and municipal bakery. The 850‑square‑metre facility will house a library, workshop spaces, quiet and noisy work areas, and a bakery equipped with production, packaging and storage zones. Solar panels on the roof will provide renewable energy for the building, which aims to serve as a modern social hub for local residents.
In the Haliliye district, the municipality launched a comprehensive education and vocational program for women under the leadership of Mayor Mehmet Canpolat. Courses in handicrafts, literacy and other skills are offered at several local houses, complemented by on‑site childcare to enable mothers to attend. Participants report increased confidence and greater involvement in economic activities, while the program seeks to strengthen social participation across the community.
