Kayseri municipality tightens oversight of hobby gardens for new season

The Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality announced the start of the 2024 hobby‑garden season and implemented strict security and environmental measures for the 2,543 retired citizens who use the gardens. Six sites – Altınoluk, Beştepeler, Cırgalan, Karpuzatan, Selçuklu and Şeker – are now fully allocated, with no vacant plots remaining after an April lottery.

Municipal police are requiring garden‑access cards at entry, refusing use by anyone not listed as the official holder, and denying refunds even if fees have been paid. Garden owners found neglecting maintenance or creating disturbances are being warned, and those who fail to clean or repair their plots will have their allocations cancelled.

The municipality emphasized that the new rules aim to ensure a peaceful, safe and orderly season for all participants.
