Turkish municipalities promote zero waste through environmental education

Municipalities in Turkey are implementing various educational initiatives to promote zero waste and environmental sustainability.

In Seyhan, the municipality organized a compost training session for 5-year-old nursery students at its Compost Production Facility. The program, held in observance of World Food Day, taught children how food waste can be transformed into compost to nourish the soil. Deputy Mayor Hasibe Akkan emphasized the importance of instilling environmental awareness in children at an early age to ensure a more livable future.

In Bursa, İnegöl Municipality participated in a sustainable environment and zero waste training program. The municipality utilized digital methods to reduce waste, using QR codes instead of printed brochures to provide information to visitors. The event also included practical activities such as candle workshops and recycling demonstrations to increase public awareness of resource efficiency.
