Turkish municipalities provide millions in support to amateur sports clubs

Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality has announced a total support package of 15 million TL for amateur sports clubs. Under the leadership of Mayor Fırat Görgel, the funding includes 8 million TL in cash and 7 million TL in in-kind support, such as transportation and accommodation. This initiative aims to strengthen club facilities and encourage youth participation in various sports branches.

In Gaziantep, the Metropolitan Municipality has provided 14 million TL in cash support to 115 amateur sports clubs. Mayor Fatma Şahin stated that the funding is distributed based on criteria including league participation, infrastructure activities, women’s and disabled sports, and the development of athletes for national teams. The program seeks to establish a strong local sports infrastructure to cultivate future talent.
