Turkish municipalities refurbish urban parks for the summer season

The Akdeniz district municipality in Mersin has accelerated maintenance, repair and renewal work across its parks and green areas as the summer season begins. Crews trimmed trees and shrubs, mowed lawns, cleared weeds, inspected irrigation and lighting systems, and renovated children’s playground equipment and seating in neighborhoods such as Üçocak, Çay, Huzurkent and Adanalıoğlu. Akdeniz Parks and Gardens Directorate head Ahmet Cankatan said the effort aims to make parks safer, more attractive and comfortable for families during the busy summer months.

In Ankara’s Keçiören district, municipal park teams are carrying out similar upgrades, including grass cutting, pruning, watering, and refurbishment of urban furniture. Landscape work, planting and upkeep of walking paths and resting areas are also underway to improve the functionality and appearance of local green spaces. Both districts emphasize regular summer‑time maintenance to enhance public spaces for residents.
