Turkish Municipalities Roll Out Summer Library Programs for Children

The Talas municipality in Turkey has deployed a mobile library to rural neighbourhoods, offering children book‑reading sessions alongside traditional games, drama contests, puppet shows, painting, tug‑of‑war and other activities. The initiative began in the Kuruköprü area and will continue through the end of August, visiting additional villages.

In the city of Nilüfer, the local government launched its 15th edition of the "Biz Bu Yaz Kütüphanedeyiz" (We Are in the Library This Summer) project. Targeting six‑year‑old children, the program runs throughout July in several districts, providing reading workshops, drama, rhythm and fluency exercises, as well as parent‑focused seminars and counseling sessions. Both programs aim to foster early reading habits and ease children’s transition to school while engaging families in community activities.
