Turkish national detained in UK on US terrorism charges linked to Hamas
Turkish citizen Mohammad Yousef Hasna, 45, of Istanbul, was arrested in the United Kingdom and ordered held pending extradition to the United States. He faces U.S. charges of conspiring to provide material support to Hamas, conspiring to finance terrorism and financing terrorism, each carrying a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald said Hasna worked closely with senior Hamas leader Ghazi Hamad to deliver supplies, food and funding to the group under the guise of a humanitarian organization. Hamas is designated by the United States as a foreign terrorist organization.
