Turkish national wrestling teams depart for Balkan Championship

The Turkish national wrestling teams for the under-15, under-17, and under-20 categories have departed for the 2026 Balkan Championship in Koprivnica, Croatia. The delegation, consisting of 250 athletes and technical staff, will compete in freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s categories.

Among the participants is Bayram Can Bal, a young wrestler from the Göksun Wrestling Training Center in Kahramanmaraş, who will represent both his city and Turkey on the international stage.

Coaches and athletes expressed high ambitions for the tournament, aiming to secure gold medals and build upon the success of the previous year in Romania, where the team earned 121 medals. The delegation's goal is to develop talent capable of competing in future European, World, and Olympic championships.
