Turkish naval academies conduct intensive maritime training
Naval officer and non-commissioned officer candidates in Turkey are undergoing intensive practical training to prepare for maritime defense duties. At the Naval Vocational School of Higher Education (DAMYO) in Altınova, students participate in sea-based emergency drills, physical conditioning, and specialized swimming techniques.
Notably, the program has begun including female non-commissioned officer candidates. Among them is Merve Türkmen, who is training in the aircraft maintenance branch, making her one of the first women to specialize in this field at the academy.
Simultaneously, at the Turkish Naval Academy in Tuzla, officer candidates are conducting advanced maneuvers using a fleet of eight training vessels. Training exercises include ship approach and departure, tactical maneuvers, navigation in low visibility, and emergency response scenarios such as
