Turkish officials levy over 100,000 lira fines for traffic violations

In Konya, a driver who performed a drift maneuver was issued an administrative traffic fine of 140,000 Turkish lira.

In Antalya's Kepez district, a truck driver illegally dumped construction debris, causing the dump to strike an energy transmission line. The resulting sparks ignited nearby vegetation, but fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze. The driver, identified as C. G. Y., was fined 115,000 Turkish lira under the Penal Code and the Municipal Violations Law after the municipality’s photo‑trap system captured the illegal dumping.

Both incidents illustrate Turkish local authorities’ use of administrative penalties and surveillance technology to enforce traffic and environmental regulations.
