TBMM Petition Commission receives diverse citizen requests

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Petition Commission reported receiving 1,426 applications in September, averaging 48 petitions per day. The majority of requests focused on justice services, labor conditions, and social security, with the highest volume of submissions originating from Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.

Notable requests include granting green passports to citizens aged 60 and over, reducing undergraduate university programs to three years, and increasing health science programs to six years. Labor-related demands include mandatory salary disclosure in job advertisements, extending annual leave to six weeks, and providing severance pay for resigned employees.

Other significant proposals involve legal protections against social media bullying targeting women, limiting alimony based on marriage duration, and establishing dedicated prayer spaces for Alevi citizens in public institutions. More unusual requests included administrative changes such as connecting Ankara to Tekirdağ, implementing a 'singleness tax,' and creating defense protocols for potential extraterrestrial threats.
