Turkish Parliament Sets Aggressive June 2 Agenda on Agriculture, Safety and Alcohol Advertising

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) will reconvene on 2 June for an intensive week of legislative work. Lawmakers will debate a draft amendment covering the Land Protection and Land Use Law, which imposes new safety duties on provincial and municipal bodies for water‑related structures to prevent accidents and fatalities. The proposal also introduces stringent rules for alcohol‑related advertising, prohibiting producers, importers and marketers from using brand logos, emblems or similar signs in events, broadcasts and social‑media posts.

Additional items on the agenda include a new pricing mechanism for sugar beet, where purchase prices will be set annually through negotiations between sugar‑processing firms and growers. The draft extends the licensing period for State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) projects without permits to 31 December 2040 and proposes heavy administrative fines for illegal constructions that lack required utilities connections. Parliamentary committees on budget, security, the Turkish Red Crescent and school‑attack investigations will also convene, reflecting broader concerns about public safety and institutional oversight.
