Turkish Parliament to debate Red Crescent law and fund liquidations
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) is set to begin its weekly session on Tuesday, October 13, with a legislative agenda focused on the Turkish Red Crescent and various regulatory matters.
A proposed law regarding the Turkish Red Crescent aims to establish the organization as the sole authorized entity for receiving and utilizing in-kind and cash aid from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and other national societies during both normal and extraordinary circumstances. The bill also includes provisions for cash compensation for personnel working in disaster, war, or conflict zones, and mandates that Red Crescent branch presidents serve on the boards of trustees for Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations.
Other key items on the agenda include elections for two memberships within the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK). Additionally, the Plan and Budget Commission will discuss a bill concerning the liquidation of certain investment funds previously decided upon by the Capital Markets Board. This regulation seeks to ensure a transparent and effective liquidation process, including the recovery of assets and the reimbursement of losses to fund shareholders.
