Istanbul police arrest 15 suspects in connection with targeted shootings
Turkish authorities have detained 15 suspects following a series of armed attacks in Istanbul's Pendik and Ümraniye districts. The investigation revealed that a delivery courier, Yusuf Dal, was accidentally shot and seriously injured in Pendik on October 15. The attackers reportedly mistook the courier's vehicle for that of a businessman who was being targeted for extortion, as both vehicles were the same make and model.
A second attack occurred on October 24 in Ümraniye, where another individual was seriously wounded by long-range gunfire. Investigators linked the two incidents after discovering that the vehicle used in the second attack had been reported stolen in Kayseri and was later found burned in Pendik.
Simultaneous police operations in Sancaktepe, Avcılar, and Sakarya led to the apprehension of the suspects. During the raids, law enforcement seized an AK-47 rifle, automatic pistols, and various rounds of ammunition. Of the suspects initially referred to the judiciary, two have been arrested, while others remain under judicial control or are awaiting further legal proceedings.
