Turkish police detain suspects in two multi‑million‑lira jewelry thefts

In Elazığ, police investigated a massive burglary reported on May 31 that involved the theft of jewelry valued at about 7 million Turkish lira. After reviewing hundreds of hours of security‑camera footage and conducting coordinated raids, four suspects were captured, placed in pre‑trial detention and charged with qualified theft.

In Bursa’s Nilüfer district, officers stopped a vehicle on June 3 and seized a steel safe containing roughly 1.8 million lira worth of jewelry stolen from a residence in the Çalı neighbourhood. The three men apprehended – all with extensive criminal records – were brought before a court, ordered to be imprisoned, and the recovered valuables were returned to their owner.
