Turkish police launch fraud‑prevention outreach in Erzurum and Ardahan

Police community‑support units in the eastern Turkish cities of Erzurum and Ardahan conducted street‑level information campaigns aimed at preventing fraud and raising public safety awareness. In Erzurum, officers visited neighborhoods such as Ömer Nasuhi Bilmen and Şükrüpaşa, distributing brochures that warned against telephone and internet scams, promoted seat‑belt use, and highlighted drug‑prevention measures. Residents were thanked for their cooperation.

In Ardahan, police similarly met citizens face‑to‑face, covering topics that included family‑violence prevention, illegal betting, online gambling, addiction, and fraud. Officers stressed the importance of not sharing personal data with unknown callers and urged anyone suspecting fraud to contact the emergency number (112). Brochures on safe internet use and crime‑avoidance were also handed out. Both departments emphasized that such outreach will continue to protect community peace and security.
