Kayseri police dismantle ‘Şirinler’ organized crime group

Turkish authorities have conducted a large-scale operation against an organized crime group known as ‘Şirinler’ (The Smurfs). The investigation, led by the Kayseri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, targeted the group across five provinces, including Kayseri, Istanbul, Antalya, Konya, and Kırıkkale.

Law enforcement officials identified 89 criminal acts attributed to the group, allegedly led by Hacı Ömer Okuducu, a businessman involved in the meat industry and sports management. The charges include attempted murder, wounding, threats, looting, deprivation of liberty, and property damage. The investigation noted 80 suspects and 68 victims associated with these activities.

During simultaneous raids on 40 locations, including 35 residences and 5 workplaces, police detained 32 suspects. Following judicial proceedings, 16 individuals were arrested, while the remaining 16 were released under judicial control. Authorities seized various items during the searches, including a licensed firearm, ammunition, knives, documents, computers, and narcotics.
