Turkish police seize unsafe food shipments at Antalya and Çerkezköy bus terminals

Municipal police in Antalya intercepted six boxes containing 90 kg of live freshwater crayfish at the intercity bus terminal. The crustaceans were being transported in violation of cold‑chain rules and most were undersized. The bus company was cited under veterinary and fish‑product legislation, and the crayfish were deemed dead and destroyed.

At Çerkezköy bus station in Tekirdağ, a routine inspection uncovered red meat that had been moved in unhealthy conditions. The meat was seized, and the carrier was subject to administrative penalties for breaching food‑safety regulations.

Both incidents demonstrate Turkish local authorities’ enforcement of public‑health standards for food transport at major transport hubs.
