Turkish police warn citizens against sharing bank account, IBAN and card details

The General Directorate of Security (Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü) released a video on its NSosyal account urging citizens not to share bank account numbers, IBANs or card information with anyone. The warning stresses that the account holder is legally responsible for all transactions and that misuse can lead to fraud, financing of terrorism, organized crime or illegal betting.

Viewers are advised to report any suspicious transfers or unusual account activity promptly to the relevant authorities, avoid promises of commission or easy money, and refrain from acting as an intermediary for unknown persons or illicit gambling sites. The police emphasize that protecting one’s account protects one’s future.
