Turkish political leaders address environmental, security, and unity issues
In Afyonkarahisar, Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan met with volunteers from the ‘Eber Lake Lives Movement’ to support efforts to save Eber Lake from the threat of disappearance. Erbakan expressed his support for the struggle to preserve the lake for future generations.
Separately, Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ visited Afyonkarahisar, where he criticized current school security measures following recent attacks. He called for more effective early warning systems and better inter-ministerial cooperation to monitor student risks. Özdağ also commented on foreign policy and the ‘Terror-free Turkey’ process.
Regarding the ‘Terror-free Turkey’ initiative, discussions have surfaced concerning remarks made by TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. In a previous speech, Kurtulmuş emphasized the need for Turks and Kurds to unite their will to prevent foreign powers from dividing the country, a stance that has drawn scrutiny regarding its implications for national identity and the constitution.
