Turkish pop star Sıla Gençoğlu detained in nationwide drug investigation
Turkish prosecutors in Bakırköy launched a broad drug probe that led to the detention of 25 individuals, including singers, actors, entrepreneurs and other public figures. Among those taken into custody were pop singer Sıla Gençoğlu – who recently performed a duet with Greek artist Konstantinos Argyró – and fellow musician İlyas Yalçıntaş. Police searches uncovered drug‑related equipment such as precise scales at the home of one suspect.
Four of the detainees were formally arrested, while twelve, including Gençoğlu, were released on bail pending further court review. The investigation is part of a series of recent Turkish operations targeting alleged drug use and facilitation within the entertainment and media sectors.
