Prosecutor Türkşad Kunthan Uçuk suspended and banned from traveling abroad

The Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) has suspended Prosecutor Türkşad Kunthan Uçuk from his duties for three months. The decision was made following an investigation into a video in which Uçuk allegedly used insulting language toward judges and prosecutors.

Uçuk, who was recently transferred to the Bozova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, surrendered to the Tekirdağ Courthouse after a detention order was issued for “insulting a public official.” During his statement, Uçuk claimed the video was recorded during a private WhatsApp argument with his former spouse and was intended only for her, asserting that his comments were made in a moment of “sudden anger and rage” and were not directed at members of the judiciary.

A court has since imposed judicial control measures on Uçuk, including a ban on traveling abroad, citing strong suspicion of crime and the need to collect further evidence.
