Turkish provinces warn of fire risk as heat spikes

The governorate of Yozgat reported that a grass fire that broke out in the Çamlık area of Ahmet Efendi neighbourhood was extinguished quickly through coordinated action by emergency teams. Officials urged residents to avoid discarding cigarette butts, glass bottles or other flammable waste, to refrain from burning straw, and to report any smoke or fire to the 112 emergency number, emphasizing that "a small spark can lead to a great disaster."

In Manisa, the provincial governor issued a similar warning, noting that the combination of high summer temperatures, low humidity and strong winds makes straw burning a serious fire hazard. Authorities warned that uncontrolled burns can spread to forests and agricultural land, causing irreversible damage, and again asked the public to call 112 if they notice smoke or fire. Both provinces highlighted the need for collective responsibility to protect natural areas.
