Turkish public opinion poll shows low approval for Trump and high political anxiety

A July 2026 MetroPOLL Research study, titled ‘Pulse of Türkiye,’ reveals significant negative sentiment toward US President Donald Trump and widespread political anxiety among Turkish voters.

Regarding international perception, 86% of respondents expressed disapproval of Donald Trump, while only 7.6% reported liking him. Disapproval rates were highest among voters of the İYİ Party (97%) and DEM Party (96.6%). The highest approval rating for Trump was found among MHP voters at 16.7%.

On the domestic front, the survey indicates a prevailing sense of unease. Approximately 64.1% of participants reported negative emotions regarding recent political developments, with 33.6% feeling anxiety and 30.5% feeling frustration or disappointment. Conversely, only 17.8% of respondents expressed feelings of hope or trust. Sentiment varied by political affiliation: CHP voters reported the highest levels of frustration and disappointment at 43.3%, while AK Party voters showed higher levels of hope (16.5%) and trust (14.4%) compared to other groups.
