Turkish Red Crescent commemorates 60 years of camp alumni reunion in Ankara

The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) gathered about 120 former residents of its historic youth camps for the "Yurt Kardeşliği 60. Yıl Buluşması" at the Çamkoru Camp in the Çamlıdere district of Ankara. Participants, many now fathers and grandfathers, revisited the camp grounds, shared memories and reaffirmed the volunteer spirit that the camps fostered.

Deputy Secretary General Şükrü Can highlighted the organization’s 168‑year service to the nation and described the camps as more than holiday sites, noting they helped shape future volunteers. Former camp resident Celal Baltacı, now a chemical engineer, recalled reliving his 1973 youth‑home experience, while retired referee Talat Akbulut spoke of the lasting brotherhood among those who grew up together. The reunion plans a follow‑up gathering in October in Çubuk.
