Turkish representatives call for economic and family policy reforms

Political and trade representatives in Turkey are calling for structural economic reforms to address demographic shifts and the financial burden on small businesses.

HÜDA PAR spokesperson Serkan Ramanlı proposed new family policies to combat declining birth rates, including providing retirement pensions to women who remain married for at least 25 years. Ramanlı also criticized current female employment targets, suggesting that policies should focus on supporting housewives and mothers rather than merely increasing labor force participation through forced employment.

Separately, the Konya branch of the Tradesmen and Craftsmen Association (ESDER) responded to statements from Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek regarding record vehicle tax collections. ESDER official N. Erdoğan Bişkin argued that economic success should not be measured solely by tax revenue. The association called for urgent measures to reduce inflation, lower fuel prices, and implement a fairer tax system to relieve the burden on workers, retirees, and small business owners.
