Turkey civil servant and retiree salary increases under discussion
In Turkey, discussions regarding salary increases for civil servants and retirees for January 2027 have intensified following recent inflation data. Based on September inflation figures, which reached 1.84%, various economic scenarios are being modeled to predict upcoming wage adjustments.
Social security experts and market participants have proposed several inflation-based scenarios. If the year-end inflation target of approximately 28% is met, SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees could see an increase of around 8.70%. Under this scenario, the minimum retiree pension could rise from 23,552 TL to approximately 25,601 TL, though legal adjustments by the TBMM may be required.
Other market forecasts suggest higher inflation rates, with some estimates placing the six-month inflation for the second half of the year between 10.07% and 10.67%. Additionally, the Türkiye Kamu-Sen union has presented a formal list of demands to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security during KPDK meetings. These demands include permanent welfare shares, the application of seniority indicators (3600 ek gösterge), and the stabilization of income tax brackets at 15% to protect the purchasing power of public employees.
